MISS POUTY
Miss Pouty has very tender sensibilities. She is easily offended and hurt, and is not particularly well-suited to life aboard the close quarters of a charter boat. But, of course, if you were to not include her on your trip, she would be very offended and hurt. (The fact that you might prefer the company of other crew, or your family, or just your spouse, to her is simply inexplicable ... and offensive and hurtful.) You can't win this one. You can only hope that your schedule or anticipated budget doesn't accommodate them. Those of you who have active consciences will find her especially difficult to live with because she will make you feel guilty and responsible for her moods. Any transgression she suffers at your hands will be remembered forever.
Our Mr. Pout was an old friend that had asked time after time if he could come along. One year, we invited him. He was single and invited a woman to come along, whom he'd only been dating for a couple of weeks. The fought the entire time, probably because he treated her like crap from the time they got off the American Eagle. The only thing that she did wrong, as far as we could tell, was to stand up for herself and not baby him like he expected. He was pouty and took everything anyone said as a personal insult. We would up having ten times the fun with her that we had with him, and spent a heck of a lot of our time making fun of him. If he was gonna take it personal, we decided what the heck... Note that I said he WAS an old friend. Haven't seen him in years...
